A Calathea warschewiczii Közép- és Dél-Amerika esőerdeiben őshonos. Nevét a lengyel botanikusról, Józef Warszewiczről kapta, aki a 19. század egyik legnagyobb gyűjtője és a trópusi növények elismert szakértője volt.
Ragyogó zöld levelei bársonyosak puhák, az erezet sötétebb zöld. A levélfonák bordós árnyalatú. A fénymennyiség hatására egész nap táncoltatja leveleit.
The velvety green leaves of the Calathea Warscewiczii, sometimes referred to as Calathea Jungle Velvet, are characterised by their darker green banding throughout the leaves and deep maroon undersides. Native to the rain forests of Central and South America. Is named after Polish botanist Józef Warszewicz, one of the most prolific nineteenth-century plant collectors and one of the top field experts on tropical American plants of his time.
